Earl & Fairy – Review

Edgar & Lydia

Hakushaku To Yousei (Earl & Fairy) Review

Name – Hakushaku To Yousei (Earl & Fairy)
Episodes: 12
Status: Complete
Genres: Fantasy, Romance, Shoujo.
Rating: PG-13

Story – The story, set in Victorian Britain, follows the adventures of 17-year-old Lydia Carlton, nicknamed the “Fairy Doctor” due to her interest and understanding of fairies. Her life takes a 180-degree turn when she meets Edgar J.C Ashenbert, the “Legendary Blue Knight Earl” and his crew on a sea voyage to London. Edgar hires her as an adviser during his quest to obtain a treasured sword that was supposed to be handed down to him by his family. *Source Wiki

My Review – I enjoyed this show despite it’s flaws & cliches. The story was interesting in my opinion. Edgar’s tragic past & his never ending desire for revenge, sudden re-appearances of his old enemies and the bitter sweet relationship between Lydia & Edgar; all these things kept the story going. But the story lacked the depth that was expected & needed. Moreover it seemed a little bit rushed sometimes. However these negative sides didn’t stop me from enjoying this show. 😛

K-Drama Quotes – Reply 1997/Answer me 1997

Here are some of my most favorite quotes from the K-drama Reply 1997 (Aww I miss this Drama like hell!! 😥 )-

|Episode 1 & 2|

# “At the age of 18, we think we can love anyone … and worry too much about little things. Eighteen. Adults say at this age, we laugh at the simplest things. But at that time, we were serious. Harder and more intense than most adults.” – Shi Won

answer-me-1997-quote

# “Once we tried to be the same. But one day we started to change. Becoming different people .. why was it so hard to admit it? Everyone is different. That’s the way of the world. The way of growing up. At the age of 18, we were growing up and therefore changing from each other. At the same time we had to confront another growing pain, that of accepting others.” – Yoon Jae (Episode 2)

|Episode 3 & 4|

# “A secret refers to something I don’t know about others… As I find out what I’ve believed isn’t the truth, secrets have more power… Things I believe to be true aren’t always true.” – Shi Won

# “The human mind is infinite. Neither its depth nor its end can be known. They fight to the death some days, and then they show their love and affection for each other. A normally hot-blooded male could become a coward in front of girls.” – Shi Won

#Yes, the truth is inconvenient. But if we don’t accept that, we have to live with lies. We have to accept inconvenient truths. what we see is not everything.” – Shi Won

reply-1997-quote

# “I knew it then. When you start to like someone, she is all you can think of. And there is no gain without effort. Whatever you want, you can’t get it if you stand still. There is no such thing as fair play anymore.” – Yoon Jae

My thoughts –
Gekkan shoujo is one of the most funniest show I’ve watched recently!! Want a good laugh? Watch this Anime, trust me you wont regret it one bit. 🙂 It’s very refreshing & entertaining and it will make you laugh uncountable times.

The Anime didn’t have a solid plot to be honest. The show mostly focused on the characters and their daily interactions with one another. The story was nothing extraordinary but the constant turns of interesting events was what made the Anime worth watching. One of the most praiseworthy attribute of the show was how wonderfully it combined romance & comedy in the story. That was one of the key selling points of the show.

The best part of the show was the characters and their interactions. Starting from the main protagonists to the supporting ones, every single character was thoroughly likable. They never failed to make me laugh with their silly & weird activities.

Interactions between Sakura & Nozaki-kun were enjoyable to the fullest. Nozaki’s obliviousness when it comes to romance was beyond hilarious and Sakura’s undying attempts to win his heart over was downright adorable. And I personally think that given the chance, Sakura & Nozaki-kun will be an adorable couple. 😀 Continue reading “Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun – Review”
