Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji Review
Status: Finished Airing
Genres: Comedy, Romance, School, Shoujo
Summary of Story – The story centers around Erika Shinohara, a vain 16-year-old girl who tells her friends about her romantic exploits, but she actually has no boyfriend. She claims that a handsome boy in a candid photo is her boyfriend, but it turns out that boy is a schoolmate named Kyouya Sata. She has no choice but to make him her fake boyfriend. Unfortunately, Sata may look like a sweet person, but he is actually an ultra-black-hearted sadist. Sata takes advantage of Erika’s weakness and treats her like his dog. *Source Wikia
My review/thoughts – Romcom/Shoujo being my most favorites genre, I must admit I enjoyed this show more or less. It’s not one of the best Shoujo Anime out there, but at least it was not boring and dull. It was a different kind of shoujo, with a different story & unique characters.
The series pretty much revolved around Erika & Kyouya. Erika was one of the funniest character of the series. She tries her best to survive any situation, even if it’s by lying. Kyouya on the other hand was one of the most popular guy in school. To everyone else he was kind & charming but that’s just a mask he liked to wear. In reality he was kinda like a sadist. 😛 His true self was that of a black prince. He was very mean to Erika and tried to annoy her in every possible way. There were times I honestly felt like punching him in the face for annoying & hurting Erika over and over again. -_- But eventually love started blooming between them in an exceptional way. 😛
P.S – I absolutely hated the whole master-dog thing though!!! -_- That was very lame to be honest.
One thing I honestly loved about the show is how Erika & Kyouya fell in love with each others’ true selves. They didn’t find it necessary to be fake around each other, they were just being themselves. They were two different people with two different characteristics but they managed to stick together by making sacrifices & adjustments. That was the best part of the Anime.
The show could’ve have been a lot better if there was enough character development & more interesting side characters. Rather it was filled with plot holes & cliches, so it felt a bit disappointing -_- Graphics & Animation was not up to the mark either.
Final thoughts – The show is not everyone’s cup of tea. If you’re not into typical shoujo Anime, you better skip this one. It’s recommended for core Shoujo lovers like me. 🙂
Positive – Unique Story & Characters, Good Comedy.
Negative – Plot Holes, Cliches, No Character development, Disappointing Side characters, Poor Graphics & animation.
