Summary – After overcoming poverty and a difficult childhood, Jang Hye-sung (Lee Bo-young) becomes a lawyer, specifically a public defender, but she is pragmatic, self-preserving and jaded. Her life changes when she encounters Park Soo-ha (Lee Jong-suk), a high school senior with the supernatural ability to read other people’s thoughts by looking into their eyes, and cop-turned-lawyer Cha Gwan-woo (Yoon Sang-hyun) who is cheerful and idealistic, though a bit of a dork. Soo-ha gained his mind-reading ability after witnessing his father getting murdered ten years previously. His father’s death had initially been dismissed as a car accident until Hye-sung, then a high school girl (Kim So-hyun), gave decisive testimony in court despite the killer’s threats (Jung Woong-in), and Soo-ha has been searching for her ever since. My Review/Thoughts – ‘I hear your voice’ was my first drama of Lee Jong sook. Prior watching that series I simply couldn’t understand why he was soo popular cause I didn’t find him attractive at all. Moreover, even though the premise of the drama was interesting, I usually preferred K-drama which were solely based on Romance/Family affairs or Love Triangles. Yet I somehow ended up watching this show, and bang … I fell in love with him and a new era of K-drama admiration began for me, all thanx to ‘I hear Your Voice’.

I loved every second of the drama. It was highly engaging and I watched the series almost in one go. The flow of the story was well balanced and beautifully handled. Soo Ha’s supernatural ability to read others mind was sensibly blended into the story, so as a viewer not for a moment I felt like questioning the origin of his power, rather it seemed like a natural daily life element. The series was focused on the main plot, however additionally it included some intriguing subplots as well, which enhanced the overall appeal of the series. The court cases taken Hye Sung and Attorney Cha delivered few strong messages and my perception of right and wrong was in question.

The chemistry between Soo Ha and Hye Sung was spot on. The age gap between them or the fact that Hye Sung was a lot older than Soo Ha, none of these really bothered me for a moment. I thoroughly enjoyed the progress of their relationship. The way Soo Ha’s one sided love turned into a mutual feeling between them was really commendable. Through thick and thin, they were together. Their romance was perfectly handled and left no room for complain. It felt genuine, without any cliched or exaggerated scenes.

Whether it was the main leads or the ruthless villains, thanx to the outstanding character development every single individuals was worth praising. The show had a wide range of prominent and distinguishable characters. On top of that, the brilliant acting just made the characters feel more close to the heart.

The main leads were stunning. Lee Jong Suk nailed the character of Soo Ha with his amazing acting and personality. No wonder his fan following increased manifold after his appearance on this show. He was dashing and lovable at the same time. ❤

The character of Hye Sung played by Lee Bo Young, was downright enjoyable. She was the prefect example of a K-drama heroine; strong, independent and genuine. Sometimes she was selfish, sometimes caring; some other times she was stubborn and out of no where she would surprise us with her soft heart again, basically she had every trait of a real human being and I loved her for that.

Cha Gwan-woo was another unique 2nd male lead, not the rival category, rather at times I felt relieved that he was there. His positive and caring attitude were the source of all my affection towards him.

It will be injustice to my review if I don’t mention the character of Min Joon Kook here. He  seemed like the scariest villain of Drama-land till time. The brilliant acting by the talented actor Jeong Wung In and overall character development added immense impact to the drama.

Seo Do Yeon, I didn’t give much attention to her throughout the series as it seemed that she was another random character whose sole purpose was to be Hye sung’s rival. But her character development was really commendable and the last few episodes featuring her relationship with her father just won my heart over.

Final Thoughts – An amazing drama with fantastic plot & character development. Highly recommended for everyone. Staring from amazing story to brilliant acting, you’ll love every bit of it. It has Romance, Drama, Suspense, Thrill and much more; why don’t you check out for yourself? 🙂
